The therapeutic process is unique to each individual. Not all types of therapy may be a good fit for everyone. That being said, sessions may at times expand from the more traditional set-up of “talk therapy”, based on client need. Treatment can also include music therapy, play therapy for children, or creative arts modalities. Together, we will discuss what may be appropriate for you and your family, and why.
Couple and Family Therapy
Therapy for Couples and Families is all about relationships. People are constantly being impacted by their family and friends, environmental surroundings, and life experiences. Similarly, others in our lives are always being impacted by us. Individuals do not exist in a vacuum- and treatment is based around this idea. To improve our mental health, we must work to better understand the many facets that make us who we are; and how that sometimes helps and hinders us in developing the relationships we want.
Music Therapy
Music Therapy may sound like a new concept, but people have been using music to heal physical and cognitive injuries, create relationships, and work through trauma for years. This discipline can be particularly helpful when working with folks with physical or cognitive disabilities, those struggling to connect with others, individuals who have experienced trauma, individuals with dementia, and with those in a hospital or recovery setting. Music is a transformative medium that can illicit old memories by gentle means, provide an alternate medium for topics that are difficult to discuss, or provide a means of communication for those who are not able to use words at all. Music Therapy services are offered for individuals, small groups, and for cohort-building/team-building.
COUPLES THERAPY
Having a life partner can bring joy, warmth, and companionship to daily life. And, it is a balancing act! Each partnership has it’s own distinct uniqueness, and each individual develops and expresses their love differently. When intimacy struggles, jobs, and even children are added, maintaining connection with your partner can sometimes take strategic planning. Couples Therapy provides a space to work through some of the difficulties that arise in relationships, and allow individuals to communicate physical and emotional needs in a congruent manner.
Individual Therapy
Sometimes we need our own, personal space to reflect and process what has been happening in our lives. For many of us, it is rare that we get this individual time. Whether you are working through your own trauma, navigating relationship or family struggles, or figuring out how to set goals for yourself; Individual sessions may be the best fit. Individual sessions are structured both to provide validating support and space for processing, challenge, and change.
