Chelsea Mazzotta, LMFT, MT-BC
Chelsea Mazzotta began her career at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA, where she studied Voice Performance and Music Therapy. Upon graduation, she received the "Excellence in Music Therapy Award" for academic achievement. During her time at SHU, Chelsea worked in group and individual settings, providing music therapy assessment and treatment for folks with disabilities, older adults experiencing dementia and other diagnoses, adolescent mental health inpatient units, and for children and teens in a hospital setting. She continued her work post-graduation, holding groups and individual sessions in nursing homes and assisted-living facilities, hospice facilities, schools, and behavioral health programs.
Chelsea continued her graduate training at her alma mater, earning a Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Since that time, she has continued her practice as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Board Certified-Music Therapist, providing therapy for clients served by Family Resources, St. Anne Home, Elmcroft of Allison Park, Center for Victims, and The Center for Relational Change. For much of her early career, Chelsea specialized in treatment for older adults, a population she feels has great therapeutic need and is particularly under-served. She also specializes in working with trauma survivors, including survivors of homicide victims, survivors of mass violence, gun violence, survivors of incest and sexual assault, and intimate partner violence.
In 2018, Chelsea founded Mazzotta Therapy, LLC, a Marriage and Family Therapy and Music Therapy Practice serving clients in the state of Pennsylvania; and has recently expanded to the District of Columbia. She has deeply enjoyed serving medical professionals and first responders, college students and launching adults, monogamous and polyamorous couples, LGBTQ+ folks, and trauma survivors. Chelsea is passionate about social justice and understanding the ways in which “isms” (racism, sexism, homophobia, etc.) impact our experience of the world, and often contribute to our lived traumas.
Outside the therapy room, Chelsea enjoys singing individually and with local choirs. She has performed the Star-Spangled Banner, Canadian National Anthem, and God Bless America for Major League Baseball teams including the Baltimore Orioles, Tampa Bay Rays, Minnesota Twins, Cleveland Guardians, Boston Rex Sox, Detroit Tigers, Washington Nationals and Pittsburgh Pirates organizations. She has also performed national anthems for the Professional Women’s Hockey League and for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
